Gasthof zur Weissach
The Gasthof zur Weissach
The traditional restaurant "Gasthof zur Weissach" in Rottach-Egern offers sophisticated Bavarian cuisine. In its rustic parlours dating back to 1862, steeped in the history of Tegernsee you can discover small details of its past everywhere, especially in the Alte Stube (old parlour), which looks particularly noble with its dark wood panelling, deep red fabrics, and fine white accents.
This was where the renowned writers Ludwig Thoma and Ludwig Ganghofer sat to convers on the then current affairs in “the valley”, as the locals call the lake Tegernsee affectionately, over beer and some hearty Bavarian food. In summer our guests can enjoy our sunny terrace and beautiful view of the surrounding mountain landscape.

GASTHOF ZUR WEISSACH - TRADITIONAL WITH SUBTLETY
The Gasthof zur Weissach is our renown traditional restaurant in Rottach-Egern at the Tegernsee. We offer a sophisticated, down to earth cuisine with unique subtlety.
Experience the heartful beauty of Bavarian hospitality in its delicious tastes, warm service and rustic ambience at our Gasthof zur Weissach. Our Gasthof at Tegernsee welcomes our house guests who spend their holidays in the hotel as well as gourmets from the neighbourhood.
In addition to beer, an excellent glass of wine naturally rounds up a pleasurable meal in Bavaria. Our sommelier expertly selects the wines to match your dishes creating a wonderfully round taste experience.
This is what Bavaria tastes like.
Local fish
Local fish often finds its way onto the menu at Gasthof zur Weissach. Zander, trout, whitefish, and char fresh from the nets of the Tegernsee fishermen. The sautéed fillet of char is served with spinach leaves and potatoes tossed in butter, while the cheeks of the zander, some other fish and crayfish tails make up our amazingly delicious "Bavarian bouillabaisse".
Integrating the products of the region – that is the cuisine of our gasthof with its historic façade. Today, however, even in the 150-year-old "Alte Stubn" with its restored wooden floors and beautiful carved ceilings, a fresh breeze is blowing. The menu now includes toasted farmhouse bread with guacamole or linguine with porcini mushrooms and black truffle, the wine list offers excellent wines, especially from Germany’s and Austria’s wine regions.
The cuisine, however, remains fundamentally connected to the region. As befits an established Bavarian inn, the roast pork remains a matter of the heart: "A good roast needs time and love - many people don't take that time anymore," says Korbinian Kohler.
