In my latest exhibition “ES IST ANGERICHTET” I invite you to “take a seat” at an emotionally multi-layered table. This polyptych, consisting of different formats, unfolds into a large mural, which in its entirety represents a festively laid table.

But what at first glance may appear to be an ordinary table setting turns out on closer inspection to be a multi-layered narrative - a narrative inspired by the themes and emotions that deeply affect me as an artist. Each individual element on this panel carries its own story, a fragment of a larger whole that together forms a visual narrative. The depictions range from personal experiences and inner struggles to universal themes that reflect our society and humanity.

“ES IST ANGERICHTET” is not only an invitation to view, but also to reflect. The mural is intended to invite the viewer to discover the connection between the individual panels and to decipher the hidden stories that run through the entire work as a narrative.

I look forward to introducing you to my artistic world through the narratives of each individual “panel” and taking you on a journey where each painting is a part of the bigger picture. “IT IS SET” - the table is set and I invite you to take a seat.

Suse Kohler

For the vernissage at Lake Tegernsee, Suse Kohler created space in her husband's hotel: among other things, the polyptych, consisting of 15 small-format pictures, will be shown at the exhibition.

The overall picture is 3.80 m high and 5 m wide.

The artist, who lives on Lake Tegernsee, studied painting and drawing with Prof. Markus Lüpertz from 2016 to 2019 and graduated with a master class, fulfilling a long-awaited dream.

The lake and the surrounding landscape have a significant influence on the Oberammergau-born artist's work. After studying marketing and communication, the mother of four children worked in the advertising industry as well as in film and television, as she has always been attracted to the visual language, whether moving or still. This is how she discovered her passion for the silver screen at an early age. A family friend, the Munich painter Werner Maier, eventually taught her and became her private teacher and mentor.

She finds inspiration not only in the Tegernsee valley, but also when traveling and in exchange with other people, above all her husband Korbinian Kohler. The versatile entrepreneur and hotel owner, who has made a difference in the region and beyond with the Bachmair Weissach Spa & Resort, has always encouraged her to be artistically active, as art is sometimes a major theme in his hotels.

Suse Kohler's portraits are already very popular with collectors, commissioned work is always a source of joy for the artist and she feels honored when “someone trusts her to have a portrait made”, says the painter.

She was also greatly honored when her portrait of Ludwig Erhard was chosen as the cover picture for the Weimer Media Group's Ludwig Erhard Summit in early 2018. Since then, the portrait of Kohler has been the flagship of the Freedom Prize of the Media.
