About the speaker
Nils Holger Moormann does not want to be called a “designer” because he simply wants to be a furniture maker. He is indeed a passionate furniture maker, but also a designer. Since 1982, he has been creating furniture in Aschau am Chiemsee that is ascetic, well thought-out and precise, yet has a touch of playfulness about it. He is self-taught, a career changer and a free spirit, and, along with a few others, represents “New German Design”, a design style characterised by a minimalist aesthetic. The guiding principle is simplicity. Coupled with intelligence, this results in innovation. It may appear angular and bulky, but it is timeless. Visitors can now experience and bring his collection to life in his unusual guesthouse, a mountain lodge.
