»Fashionista«, »Me Too« and the »Man Cave«: Production of a gender identity
Lecture from 11 October 2019
The way gender identity is expressed and presented is undergoing radical social change. On the path to a new normality, traditional representations of male and female are eroding, leading to a state of persistent uncertainty. In these times of exponentially developing normative and collective consciousness, media professionals bear a special responsibility. They play a key role in shaping how gender relations and roles are understood today.
Anne Meyer-Minnemann explains how gender is publicly staged today and urges us to understand our gender bias and to take responsibility for shaping a future in which we can find a respectful way of dealing with the wealth of roles that are possible today.
