Marc Chagall

Special exhibition Marc Chagall.

July 17, 2021 to  January 9, 2022

A love story. Daphnis and Chloé and other works.

From July 17, 2021 to  January 9, 2022, the Olaf Gulbransson Museum, Tegernsee will exhibit over 60 works by Marc Chagall, with the ancient love story of Daphnis and Chloé being the central theme.

The other works - paintings and watercolours - center also all on love, couples floating and finding a hold ineach other. As part of this festival year "1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany" we present and celebrate Marc Chagall considered the"quintessential Jewish artist of the 20th century", here at Tegernsee.

It is the first time the Olaf Gulbransson Museum Tegernsee has had the opportunity to present such a high-calibre exhibition. It also represents the change in the future exhibition programme, which, in addition to showing drawing and caricature, will once a year stage an exhibition of an internationally renowned artist who had an impact on art history.

All the works come from private collections and some have not been shown publicley for decades. A book will be published and a versatile supporting programme will present exciting aspects of the exhibition.
