Miroslav Nemec is “Mister Tatort”

The popular actor has gone on the hunt for criminals 97 times as Munich detective Ivo Batic. After episode 100, it will come to an end. Batic and his Tatort colleague Franz Leitmayr will conduct their final investigation in spring 2026.

The TV star offers, in an exclusive conversation with Georg Seitz, a glimpse into the person behind the role that made him famous. Miroslav Nemec, called Miro by friends, was born in Zagreb, Croatia, and grew up in Freilassing, Upper Bavaria. He has been on stage since 1977 and in front of the camera since 1984. He has been part of Tatort since 1991. The role of the inspector – to which Nemec brings plenty of heart and humor – made him extraordinarily popular. With Ivo Batic, Nemec created a true cult figure of Sunday evening television in Germany.

Dr. Markus Söder awarded Miroslav Nemec and his TV partner Udo Wachtveitl the Honorary Award of the Bavarian Minister-President at the Blauer Panther TV and Streaming Awards for their achievements as the Tatort duo.

Nemec is also a successful author (“Miroslav – Jugoslav”, “Die Toten von der Falkneralm”, “Kroatisches Roulette”) and a passionate musician. When he is on stage with his band, he transforms completely into what artists affectionately call a born performer.
